When I came up with the first portable “Alternate Light Source” the BlueLite Special for forensic use back in 1994 … I got a patent on it in 1995. Then came the MicroBlue portable light source using LED technology in 2001. The same holds true here.
The BattleLite developed by the Lynn Peavey Company was created with punishing environments and unheard of capabilities in mind. The 3-watt light has a removable head that is set at 455nm, and with the orange goggles will easily illuminate body fluids, trace, and fluorescent powdered fingerprints in all lighting conditions. Tactical in size at less than 5 1/4” long and comes with a hi-lo switch and diffuser lens (to use if desired). Included in this kit is a white head that converts the light source into a tactical light with extreme brightness.
There are less expensive similar forensic lights out there. Test one for yourself. the BattleLite™ has at least 2-3 times the output, more variable control and features military-grade rugged construction that are dust, shock and weather resistant. The BattleLite uses two lithium ion batteries.
The BattleLite Kit (includes the turbo-charged 455nm light source head, white light head, diffuser lens, goggles, and 3 sets of lithium ion batteries, foam insert in a tactical carrying case.)
The BattleLite is very cost effective where everyone in your unit could have in their CSI kits. The white light head turns this light source into a very strong tactical light allowing the officer to have an adequate white compact light at the scene to help locate evidence.
