Dave Kappler of the Cherry Hill Police Department in Cherry Hill, N.J., sent this idea in for protecting the walls around the light switches when they are processed with fingerprint powder.
We were having a problem with getting powder all over the wall when we dusted light switches and switch plates. The powder was impossible to clean off flat paint. I tried this idea and it worked pretty well. I traced a switch plate on a file folder and cut it out. It fits over the plate and keeps the powder off the wall. I made different ones for 1, 2, and 3 switch setups and when they wear out, I just make a new one.
